Ballyfermot is celebrating its 70th anniversary as a town in 2018 and as part of the anniversary the local primary schools have collaborated to design the Proud to Live in Ballyfermot primary schools book. The book is full of activities that encourage the pupils to explore and learn more about their community and is a fully functioning classroom resource for primary school teachers. The book will help the children to identify all the great things about living in Ballyfermot.
The aim is that every pupil, commencing Junior Infants in one of the local schools, will receive a copy of the book when they begin primary school in September 2018. The book has 7 sections (one for each year of primary school) so when the pupil finishes 6th class they will have a completed book that tells their story of growing up in Ballyfermot.
The primary schools involved were St Raphael’s, St Gabriel’s, St Dominic’s, St Ultan’s, Mary Queen of Angels, St. Louise de Marillac and De La Salle.
The Dublin West Education Centre is pleased to have been able to contribute to the funding of this wonderful resource.
